More Watercolors

Since January, I've been quite busy, so have a look at what I've gotten up to since. Artistic critique is appreciated, if anyone has it. If you want a picture to get bigger, just click on it; they function as hyperlinks.


These are a set of abstract images of a northern pine forest--I'm thinking somewhere in Scandinavia, but I suppose Canada or Alaska works as well--in the depths of winter. I was experimenting with different compositions. Personally I think the second worked out the best. I'm thinking of making one



I also tried to create a mandala. That's supposed to be a least tern in the center, but the paint globbed a bit and covered the white forehead.



And this is the most recent work I've done, from a trip to a local park. I was trying to practice depth with the pond picture; I could have executed it better but I was also painting on a boardwalk. The blue jay was mounted and in a display at the nature center.

Before I even got to your blurb about the first set, I thought to myself that I liked the second one best too! I think it's something about the heaviness/size of the color blocks in the sky balancing the heaviness/size of the mountains. The blue jay is good too!

I'm not a professional artist, but purely intuitively can say that your composition and the way of combining colours is really beautiful

First mandala with horseshoe crabs I've ever seen, looks cool :)

Love this idea of northern lights (even went to wiki to check if they can be other colours than green - they can be even purple and pink! amazing)
