All of his arguments kind of show his lack of research more than anything. Many animals exploit other species (ants + aphids come immediately to mind). Many animals use technology, but the idea that doing something 'more' leads to superiority is like bats saying 'I use echo-location more than other animals, so I'm better than them.' They just use it a lot; the 'more' doesn't confer any sort of superiority. Some animals DO produce art, that is judged on it's aesthetic value and has no functional value outside of it's aesthetic value (bowerbirds). And some animals are sapient.
